| | Lesson | Lectio libri Sapientiae.
Deo Gratias. (Ecclesiasticus (Wisdom of Ben Sira) 31: 8-11)
| | Gradual | Domine, praevenisti eum in benedictionibus dulcendinis:
posuisti in capite ejus coronam da lapide pretioso
Et constituisti eum super opera manuum tuarum Domine.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Justus ut palma florebit: sicut cedrus Libani multiplicabitur.
Alleluia. (Psalm 61: 13, 14; Psalm 91: 13; Matthew 91: 13)

ENGLISH| Introit | ANTIPHON The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom, and his tongue shall speak judgment: the law of his God is in his heart.
Be not emulous of evildoers:
Nor envy them that work iniquity.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. ANTIPHON (repeat) The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom, and his tongue shall speak judgment: the law of his God is in his heart. (Ecclesiasticus (Wisdom of Ben Sira) 45: 30; Psalm 36: 30-31)
| | Collect | May the intercession of the blessed abbot Antony, we beseech Thee, O Lord, commend us unto Thee, that what we can not hae through our own merits, we may obtain through his patronage. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Amen. (Ecclesiasticus (Wisdom of Ben Sira) 45: 30; Psalm 36: 30-31)
| | Lesson | Today’s lesson is from the Book of Wisdom. Beloved of God and men, whose memory is in benediction. He made him like the saints in glory, and magnified him in the fear of his enemies, and with his words he made prodigies to cease. He glorified him in the sight of kings, and gave him commandments in the sight of his people, and showed him His glory. He sanctified him in his faith and meekness, and chose him out of all flesh. for He heard him and his voice, and brought him into a cloud. And He gave him commandments before His face, and a law of life and instruction. Here ends today’s lesson.
Thanks be to God. (Ecclesiasticus (Wisdom of Ben Sira) 31: 8-11)
| | Gradual | Lord, Thou has prevented him with blessings of sweetness;
Thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.
He asked life of Thee, and Thou hast given him length of days for ever and ever.
Alleluia, alleluia.
The just shall florish like the palmtree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Lebanon.
Alleluia. (Psalm 61: 13, 14; Psalm 91: 13; Matthew 91: 13)
| | Gospel | The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
The continuation of the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Glory to Thee, O Lord At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: “Let your loins be girt and lamps burning in your hands, and you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord when he shall return from the wedding: that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the lord, when he cometh, shall find watching: Amen I say to you that he will gird himself and make them sit down to meat, and passing will minister unto them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. But this know ye, that if the householder did know at what hour the thief would come, he would surely watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open. Be you then also ready, for at what hour you think not the Son of man will come.” The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise be to Thee, O Christ. (Luke 12: 35-40)
| | Offertory | Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, O Lord, and hast not withholden from him the willof his lips: Thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones. (Psalm 20: 3-4)
| | Secret | May Thy holy abbot Antony we beseech Thee, O Lord, obtain for us that the victims placed upon Thy holy altar may avail us unto salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Amen. (Psalm 20: 3-4)
| Preface (Nativity) | It is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God: for through the Mystery of the word made flesh, the new light of Thy glory hath shone upon the eyes of our mind, so that while we acknowledge God in visible form, we may be through Him be drawn to the love of things invisible. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dóminations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying... Holy, Holy, Holy...
| | Communio Verse | The faithful and wise servant whom his Lord setteth over his family: to give them their measure of wheat in due season. (Luke 12: 42)
| | Post-Communion Prayer | May the reception of Thy sacrament, and the intercession of blessed Antony Thy abbot, protect us, O Lord; that we may put into practice the virtues of his life, and receive the help of his intercession. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God world without end.
Amen. (Luke 12: 42)

About the information (below)
This information applies to the Diocese of Texas. If you are outside the diocese, the details
you see here are fairly standard throughout the western church. However, your bishop's rules may vary.
Diversity it worderful. These rules point to diversity. Neither we nor your bishop is "right" or "correct" ot "better."
Note on candles
The listing calendar items shows how many additional candles. Here are the rules for the base set of candles.
| Use 2 | for priest celebrant, no incense |
| Use 4 | for priest celebrant, no incense |
| Use 6 | for any celebrant using incense |
| Add 1 | if the celebrant is the Ordinary |
Note on liturgical colors
Parishes and priests only need two colors: white and purple. White can substitute for every color, except purple.
| WHITE | Used at Christmas, Easter, and other joyful celebrations. May be used at funerals, ordinations. |
| RED | Days of the Holy Spirit, the Apostles, and memorials of martyrs. |
| ADVENT PURPLE | This is blueish purple. Use during advent. If you cannot afford both purple hues, use whichever you have. |
| LENT PURPLE | This is red-purple. You may use lent purple at funerals, but that tradition is basically dead (so to speak). |
| GREEN | Green is the "none of the above" color. If you don't have specific instructions on color, then the color is green. |
| ROSE | Use on Gaudete and Laetare Sundays |
| BLUE | Any Mass for/about the Blessed Virgin Mary |
| BLACK | Good Friday and Funerals. |
| GOLD | At a mammoth occasion (eg., ordination, Christmas, Easter, etc.), gold is fine. |
| SILVER | We don't use silver or any other color not mentioned. |
|
